Presidents report

Hi again from the President,

Last Saturday was yet again another brilliant day of racing 22 entries in total, even with the high temperatures. Lots of close racing again was on the cards last Saturday, in particular I enjoyed battling with Ryan for a few laps in the legends race, I was slightly quicker than him but struggled for a number of laps to get clear of him it was awesome fun and I am looking forward to more racing like that this weekend.

The committee meeting was 2-2-10 and it was great to see so many people interested in the running of the club. 12 people attended the meeting and their input is most welcome, the committee can't read minds so members attendance at meetings such as last night is essential to keep the committee on the right track.

Peter Roefs was a special guest at last night's meeting and gave us a presentation on RC drag racing, how they race, their requirements, different classes etc; they sound like a lot of fun. As a result of Peter's presentation we are running a Drag racing trial on the 21st of February, so any aspiring RC drag racers out there get your cars ready, pull out the crazy 2.5 turn motors and join in. (I will have one of my 008's there with a motor I have been saving for a special occasion) On the same day we are having the warm up/ practice round to get ready for the start of the next series of racing, the track will be set up and the computer will be in practice mode so people can check their lap times. At lunch time we will be presenting the trophies for the Summer Series that draws to a conclusion the previous night.

Another day to keep in the back of your mind and set aside is the 28th of March for the Holden car show. This is a chance for us as a club to show our cars off to the general public as they come to have a look at the real cars on show. We might have slightly restricted track space on the day so a different track layout might be required. However I am encouraging people to bring whatever cars they want it is a fun open day bring your Monster Trucks, 1/8th Buggies, Drifters etc anything within reason goes. I will be dusting off my 1/5th scale F1 again for this day. If you have any questions regarding this day have a chat with me I am always happy to help out.

This year's racing calendar was discussed at the meeting last night and I am very excited to announce this years Sunday racing will be split up into two separate seasons. We will be having two special racing events for trophies this year one of them being the 'DANDY CUP' run over two days. The other big race event is the 'RON WILSON MEMORIAL'. Further details regarding the calendar will be announced on this web site over the next couple of weeks, so keep tuned and be ready for heaps of racing action.

Models and Hobbies 4 U have been extremely generous and donated a pair of rear tires for a legends car as a prize. This pair of tires will be awarded to the driver with the fastest lap time in the legends series at the end of this series. To try and even this out I am going to take the fastest three lap times for each driver and then calculate the average of these three laps and the driver with the fastest average time will be awarded the pair of rear tires at the end of the season. Thank you too Models and Hobbies for U for donating the prize, any new drivers interested in purchasing a car to race down at our club should head up to the their shop, I am sure the guys up there will be able to point you in the right direction of what gear you need to purchase. They have plenty Legends cars and all the bits required to get it going on the shelf.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the track again this Saturday afternoon. Just a reminder Practice starts at 4:30 and entries will be taken shortly after that so you better get there early to secure a good pit area, and to help set the track up.

Always keep them shinny side up!

What format of racing would you like to see used for the Ron Wilson Memorial?
